Honda file

In 1996 Honda built its millionth American-made motorcycle, and the Interstate made its final appearance around this time, leaving the Aspencade and SE. The 1997 GL1500 got improvements to the engine, transmission and final drive. Road tests of the period praised its smooth six and luggage space but criticised its weight, soft suspension and engine heat.
